Osnabrück/Hamburg, - On the 13th and 14th of November, the Gaia-X 4 ROMS research project held its closing ceremony at two locations: On the historical premises of the Museum of Industrial Culture (MIK) in Osnabrück and on the premises of the Hamburger Hochbahn. The project, which has made a significant contribution to the development of sustainable and innovative mobility and logistics solutions using Gaia-X technology, presented impressive results from the development period.
Each event kicked off with an inspiring series of presentations in which the subprojects TP1 to TP3 presented their results on key topics such as Gaia-X compliance, new business models and setting up a federation. In addition, TP4 and TP5 provided an exciting theoretical introduction to the practical demonstrations that followed. A particular highlight right at the beginning was the active presentation of a data room demonstrator, which clearly showed how Gaia-X enables secure and sovereign data exchange. These presentations and demonstrations provided a solid foundation for the subsequent active demonstrations and showed how the theoretical principles of the project are put into practice.
Autonomous parcel station in Osnabrück
The team of the TP5 sub-project ("Smart Managed Freight Fleet") presented an impressive live demonstration on the grounds of the historic MIK Osnabrück. An autonomous packing station showed how Gaia-X technologies can make the last mile of parcel delivery more efficient and sustainable in the future. The practical demonstration in the open air was particularly impressive, giving guests a concrete insight into the pioneering solutions for urban logistics.
Autonomous driving experience in Hamburg
In Hamburg, participants had the opportunity to see the results of the TP4 sub-project ("Smart Managed Public Transport Fleet") up close at the Hamburger Hochbahn site. An autonomous vehicle was tested live in an active demonstration. Guests were able to take a ride in the vehicle and experience first-hand the possibilities and potential of autonomous mobility solutions in public transport.
Exchange and Networking
Both events ended with a relaxed get-together where participants were able to engage in in-depth discussions with the respective sub-projects. The informal discussions allowed open questions to be clarified and future applications of the technologies to be discussed.
The Gaia-X 4 ROMS closing event once again demonstrated how innovative technologies and collaborative research can revolutionise the mobility and logistics industry. The project partners have impressively demonstrated that Gaia-X as a European data infrastructure is the key to sustainable and efficient solutions. The project has taken the participating companies and research institutions a long way forward - now the focus is on putting the developed solutions into practice and further exploiting the knowledge gained.
